Greek Day!
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 3 Class Blog
What an amazing day we had! It was lovely to be off timetable for one day and really immerse ourselves in some Greek culture as well as having fun with the children. We made traditional Greek crowns using natural materials, tasted some Greek foods and made our own gyros, located Greece on a map and researched some Ancient Greek history as well as finishing the day with some Zorba dancing! We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our families for their efforts with the children’s costumes. We are so grateful and they all looked exceptional!
Science Day- Bubbles!
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 3 Class Blog
What a fantastic end to the term we had today! As part of our Science Day on bubbles, we had to investigate whether you could blow a bubble inside another bubble and we had so much fun! The children were given very little input and worked together to find an answer to this question. We found out that the surface needed to be soapy for one bubble to be created and that there was a certain technique when using a straw. I won’t give too much away as I know the children are very keen to show you over the holidays! It was so wonderful (loud at times!) to see the children having fun as well as learning at the same time.
All of the children have worked so hard over the passed half term; poetry recitals, World Book Day, class collective worship, Easter productions, school trip and assessments. We are so proud of them all and they deserve a well earned rest. We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all of our families a lovely Easter break and we look forward to starting the final term of Year 3! How is that even possible?!
Water Safety Week
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 3 Class Blog
This was our final week of swimming and it has been wonderful to see the amazing progress the children have made over the past two terms. Their confidence has blossomed and we hope they will continue with their lessons outside school. To finish off our swimming unit, the children took part in ‘Water Safety Week’ where they learnt some vital survival and rescue skills. Please ask your child at home if they can explain or demonstrate some of these strategies to you. Next half term we will begin an athletics unit with the YMCA.
Sewing Complete ✅
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 3 Class Blog
It has been a long six weeks of sewing but all the children have persevered and we have finally finished our amazing cushions! The children have all learnt how to cross stitch, create a running stitch, design, make and evaluate. You will be able to see all of the children’s final pieces on display on Parent Consultation Evenings.
Fun in the snow!
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 3 Class Blog
It has been lovely to see some snow today and the children have been desperate to get outside. We have been inside most of the day but as we approached the end of the day, we all went outside for some fun! There was certainly some competition as to who could build the biggest snowball!
