School Councillors
Every July, ASJ goes to the polls to vote in our school councillors. Children who wish to be a school councillor write a manifesto and present this to their class. Each class votes in two school councillors from Year 2 to Year 6. Congratulations to this year's school councillors:
Year 2: Holly & Ted
Year 3: Ruby & Emily
Year 4: James & Freddie
Year 5: Thomas J, Lydia and Reuben
Year 6: Alex & Freya
Worship Committee
Our Worship Committee are wonderfully creative group of public speakers. Over the academic year they plan and lead our collective worships supported by Anna White, Revd Alison Battye and Karen Baylis.
To be part of the Worship Committee the children complete an application form every July. This year's Worship Committee members are:
Year 5: Calum, Ivy, Lydia, Ophelia, Lara, Rose, Addy and Isla
Year 6: Nevaeh, Hayley, Freya and Seren
House and Vice Captains
Each house has a captain and vice captain from Year 6. Anyone wishing to take on this responsibility writes a manifesto and presents this to their house team. Each house team then votes during our ASJ polling week in July. One of the many responsibilities of the house and vice captains is to share the house leader board during Celebration Assembly on a Friday. Our House and Vice Captains this year are:
Fountains Abbey: Alex & Imogen
Kirkstall Abbey: Jack & Carys
Bolton Abbey: Eliza & Frederik
Riveaulx Abbey: Jake, Annabeth & Sehaj
Eco-Committee
A very important responsibility for our Eco-committee members, protecting and enhancing the environment.
Last year the Eco-committee organised the the walk, scoot or ride to school initiative; led the change of lighting in school to LED energy efficient lights, litter picked and created posters warning car drivers not to mount the antient stones on Long Causeway.
Year 1: Esme & Henry
Year 2: Isaac & Sophia
Year 3: Robin & Sonny
Year 4: Gracie & Sam
Year 5: Molly & Ava-Amelle

Peer Mentors
Our wonderful Peer Mentors have a very important responsibility ensuring our playtimes are happy and safe for all children. Where they see a child looking sad or if there has been conflict, our Peer Mentors are trained to help. At our Friday Celebration Assembly they award a Well Done certificate for a child who has been living our school vision at playtimes: 'to love another as I have loved you.'
