Moving Ourselves and Moving Sprites!
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 1 Class Blog
Today has been all about movement! We started the day Moving a Mile to raise money for the NSPCC, moving constantly for 10 minutes whatever way we decided! There were some very creative ways chosen! Don't forget to donate on Parent Pay if you can! Then this afternoon, we had the iPads out to use Scratch Jr. as part of our new computing topic on programming and enjoyed learning how to move a character called a sprite around. He was a very dizzy sprite on some people's iPads!
End of Half Term!
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 1 Class Blog
What a busy end to a busy half term! We haven't stopped this week! Here is a selection of photos from our diorama creating (please look out for pictures of the finished articles in a newsletter very soon! They are AMAZING!) and our computing lesson about sorting objects by colour, shape and size. The children may also have brought home a piece of writing they are proud of tonight, a shape poem about a hot air balloon or a car ride.
We wish you all a very happy half term holiday and look forward to seeing you all again on the 3rd June!
Bodies!
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 1 Class Blog
This week in science, we have been learning about the organs in our bodies. We had some willing volunteers be drawn around then located the liver, kidneys, heart, lungs and brain. We learnt what they were for too - can you remember what 'oxygen' is and how we get rid of the things our bodies don't want?!
Salah
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 1 Class Blog
This afternoon, we have been learning about Salah, the 2nd Pillar of Islam, which is all about prayer. We thought about why Muslims pray at certain times of day and could understand the sense of togetherness they feel because of it, then we practised actions to help us remember the different times of day.
