Happy Holidays!
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 1 Class Blog
From all of us in Year 1, we wish you all a happy, healthy and hopefully sunny summer holiday! We will miss our Year 1s but know that they are ready to thrive in Year 2, though not before a well deserved rest! Thank you all so much for your generosity with gifts and your support over the year - it really makes a difference and we are very grateful. Happy Hols, from Miss Christie, Miss Riches and Mrs Pullan x
Running Out of Time!
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 1 Class Blog
This week, we have been continuing our maths learning about time and the children have been learning to read a stop watch in hours, minutes and seconds. We decided to have some running races in the sunshine, timing each other, and working out who was fastest! There was no chance we were going to use the hours section of the timers because everyone was super fast(!) but we had great fun and the classwork afterwards showed the children had understood their learning really well!
Playground Games!
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 1 Class Blog
This week there have been lots of games and some super learning! In PSHE, the children have been learning about playground games from here and around the world, as part of our Keeping Healthy topic, and in PE this week, they had fun playing some of the games from other countries - ask your child about La Barbichette or the Hungarian Fishing Game! We have also been playing Pairs in science, when learning about the signs of Summertime. And finally, the children have enjoyed some competitive football matches at lunchtime with Mr Gleeson to earn all important house points!
Rulebreakers!
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 1 Class Blog
We've had a very exciting day of broken rules today! During the register, several children said it was 'the best day ever!' - maybe we should have dyed hair and toy cars and teddies in school every day!! We have done some super learning though as well, from writing a polar bear factfile and counting money (for which Year 1 won the whole class Well Done award - watch out financial world!!) to writing algorithms for a sprite and of course, the moment of the week, the Year 1 Collective Worship! The children did an amazing job teaching everyone about justice, speaking so clearly and being so brave in front of so many people! What a great week!
Healthy Children!
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 1 Class Blog
We've had such a healthy week for our ASJ Healthy Living Week! The children have written instructions for and made fruit smoothies, had a dance-a-thon with Year 2, done some lovely, calming yoga with fairy lights and learnt about healthy food choices and considered how to minimise food waste! They have a tracker to fill in at home next week with lots of information about their healthy choices too! Have a lovely weekend and a Happy Fathers' Day, Dads!
