CHANGE IN REPSONSE TO COVID-19 UPDATE19 April 2022 (by Debra Dean (DDean)) |
Dear Parents/Carers
Firstly, I hope you and your family have had an enjoyable and restful break.
As you are most likely aware, the response to COVID-19 changed on the 1st April 2022 with the advice for COVID-19 being brought into line with the advice that is given for other respiratory infections (a cold, flu etc.).
Regular asymptomatic testing (using lateral flow tests) is no longer recommended for adults or children.
Free PCR tests are no longer available to the vast majority of people and there is no longer a need for you to request a PCR test if you have symptoms of COVID-19.
What to do if you or your child has symptoms
In addition to this letter, please refer to flow chart by following the link to our COVID-19 page on the school website: https://www.adel-st-john.leeds.sch.uk/parent-information/coronavirus )
If your child is unwell and has a high temperature, they should stay at home and avoid contact with other people. They can come back to school when they no longer have a high temperature, and they are well enough to attend.
If your child has mild symptoms such as a runny nose, sore throat, or slight cough, and is otherwise well, can continue to attend school. All children with respiratory symptoms should be encouraged to cover their mouth and nose with a disposable tissue when coughing and/or sneezing and to wash their hands after using or disposing of tissues.
What to do if your child has a positive COVID-19 test:
Report the result to school as soon as possible. Your child should stay at home for 3 days after the date of the test and only return if they no longer have a high temperature, and they are well enough to attend.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Yours sincerely,
Mr P Dalrymple
